I planned this resource to be one of the first to use when teaching subjects and predicates to my beginning readers, so I purposely chose not to design it as a sort. What I found was that many of the subject-predicate sorts have multiple ways the sentences “sound” right structurally, but do not always make the best sense. I decided that rather than trick students, I lined up the subjects and predicates and marked them as such, so they would not be confused. I created the sentence combinations that would be obvious matches, however, this resource is best used in a GUIDED FASHION. Many subject/predicate resources can be tricky, so it is maybe not the best choice to hand one to students as a time-filler but rather as a teaching tool. The subject-predicate match would make a helpful additions to interactive notebooks. If students add dates to their notebook pages, they can look back to mark their progress later. I marked this resource as distance learning since the PDF pages are print and go: an easy to implement product.
