when: december 2010 with: Bart & mrtnski Sunday morning early we headed for Antwerp. We arrived just before the metro stations opened. When the gates were opened we went in, no ticket needed, because we're not gonna ride a train, we're gonna run the tracks in between two trains. There's not many people waiting for the first metro on a sunday morning in Antwerp. But there are, they don't give a damn about anyone else and probably are not to happy about having to take the first train. Waiting on the platform. There's the sounds of the train in the distance, then there's the air you feel that the train pushed forward while rushing through the tunnel. The train stops, everybody gets in except for us. A few people look at us, they don't understand what we're waiting for.... Then, shortly after the train left, we leave the platform right underneath a security camera hoping no-one is looking and then jump onto the tracks and start running. We have to run for about 200 meters and then there's a staircase that leads down into the unused pre-metro tracks of Antwerp. We had a fascinating walk down here in this secret underground maze. After some hours, we are back at the top of the staircase we took down in the first place. We wait for a train to pass and run after it towards the platform. It's now the middle of the day, the platform is crowded with people. The look on there faces is priceless when they are confronted with three guys who come walking out of the darkness, black from all the dust in the tunnels. We smile say goodday in our most friendly way and take the escalator up and out of the station. A great last adventure of the year 2010! Thanks Bartje & mrtnski!
