Allistor, now both a Planetary Prince of Earth and Emperor of Orion, and faces a new set of challenges. Thrust completely unprepared into the realm of interplanetary politics, he must navigate the pitfalls of dealing with more powerful races and factions. At the same time, he strives to continue his mission to strengthen the human race. To bring other survivors into the fold, and claim as much of the earth as possible for humans. Class trainers must be found if his people are to have a chance to thrive. Hard choices have to be made. New and deadly enemies surface, and friends are lost. Allistor's acquisition of a particular artifact places a target squarely on his back. And behind it all, the Ancient Ones continue to meddle in Earth's affairs.
How does the position of the Sun in the sky affect shadows on Earth? Students interact with a model to show how shadows change as the Sun’s position in our sky changes. This model can help students connect Earth's rotation with the movement of the Sun and changing shadows. Click HERE to find more engaging resources over the Rotation of Earth. Understanding why the Sun appears to move across the sky and why shadows change as the day progresses are two ideas students struggle with. These concepts are so abstract that it is difficult for them to picture. This model makes the sun-earth relationship more visible. In addition to the printout for student notebooks, you will need objects that stand independently (without being propped up) and flashlights. These can be figurines or even a 3-inch straw piece stuck in a bit of clay. Note: This is a model. Students should understand that even though the flashlight is moving, it is the Earth's rotation that causes the Sun to move across the sky. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Resources related to this topic: Rotation and Revolution of Earth: Foldable and Sorting Activity Earth's Rotation, Shadows, and Position of the Sun Discussion Card Activity.
