This resource is a Google Form and Doc linked to an interactive timeline on six of the influential rulers of Ancient Rome. The timeline highlights six key reformist Roman emperors whose span of rule covers a 364-year period. Augustus, whose reign began in 27 B.C., was the first emperor of the Roman empire. The empire flourished for more than 200 years before being overwhelmed by economic and political turmoil. Emperor Diocletian instituted various reforms to counteract the downward spiral. Ultimately, after the reign of Constantine I, the empire’s decline could not be stopped. Students will analyze the interactive timeline then complete the 6 reading comprehension questions and one grid on the form. Then, students will answer the 4 short answer questions on the doc. This activity has worked very well in pairs. This is an excellent enrichment activity.
