Idlewyld: Reviews from families visiting Idlewyld. Idlewyld is a real treat for families. Originally constructed in 1978 as a private residence for the former mayor, it has since been renovated into a historic boutique hotel with 19 unique rooms. PREMIUM KING SUITE My charming and spacious room was located on the second story and faced the front of the hotel. I really loved its windows overlooking the front grounds. I also appreciated the bottle of wine welcoming amenity! My suite featured a king-sized bed with crisp white sheets and a luxurious comforter. Sadly, I was only a guest for one night, but I happily could have stayed for many more. The only issue was poor Wi-Fi. Actually lack of Wi-Fi would be a better description, but I was told the storm that we had experienced that night may have affected the service. HIGHLIGHTS • Large tub • Fireplace in room • Full-length mirror • Wall mounted 27” flat screen TV/DVD combo • Great wooden blinds DINING Avenue dining, the in-house restaurant, is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch, and afternoon tea. Guests may choose to eat outside in the garden courtyard or on the charming front porch. I enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant and it was delicious. The dining room is so intimate that I almost felt as if I were enjoying breakfast at a friend’s house instead of at a hotel. I cant say enough great things about Idlewyld. Idlewyld is best for families with older kids. The room next to me had a jacuzzi tub and while it was running, I could hear the hum of it through my bathroom wall. So, I assume that if you had a crying infant, youd probably be disturbing other guests. This is not to say that the walls are thin, because sound from my neighbors was never an issue, but I doubt these rooms are screaming-baby-at-midnight-proof.
