Bored one afternoon, I noticed how interesting the shapes and colors were on my poinsettia plant as it's leaves change from the traditional Christmas red to a crisp green. I first tried to capture the leaves using traditional macro photography, but was uninspired by the results, then I thought about using my scanner, with the transparency adapter to scan the leaves, this got me excited. From a single leaf to a whole series of groupings composited in Photoshop and printed fairly large, this image was printed 25 inches tall. Created using an Epson Expressions 1640XL large format graphics scanner with transparency adapter.
