Le nom est traduit du cantonnais. Cette variété est appelée aussi "bok choy ou chou de Shanghaï". C'est un légume de base en Chine et il est consommé dans tout le pays. Il peut être simplement sauté avec des épices pour accompagner des nouilles comme ici ou encore cuisiné avec des lamelles de viande ou des crevettes.
