Do you have a student in your life who is curious about relationships? If the answer is yes, let's set them up for success by teaching them about healthy and unhealthy relationships. Even if your student isn't outwardly expressing interest in romantic relationships, this is still valuable knowledge because there are many other type of relationships (ex. friendships, teacher-student, parent-child, new friends, colleagues, etc). This allows them to understand how they should expect to be treated in a relationship and also how they should treat others in a relationship. Sometimes it can be tricky to teach complex ideas in special education classrooms, so I broke it down in an adapted book! This adapted book highlights an important characteristic in healthy relationships and includes visuals to keep them engaged! Then to follow up their learning, they can do the healthy and unhealthy relationship sorting reading comprehension worksheet! This social skills activity would be great for grade 5-8 or special education classrooms. I created this resource for a special education class (SK to Grade 8) and they were all able to benefit!
