The historic David Wills House in downtown Gettysburg Pennsylvania attracts thousands of visitors every year. The building is owned by the National Park Service and is now part of the Gettysburg National Military Park. It sits right on Lincoln Square with parking available at Gettysburg Municipal Parking Garage on Race Horse Alley. Back in the late 1800's, David Wills was a prominent attorney in Gettysburg. In February 2009, the house was opened up to the public as a historical museum experience. It's open year-round, but the hours of operation varies depending on the season. They do charge an admission fee for guests to enter and tour the home, which ranges from $4.00 to $7.00 per person, depending on age. The museum tells the story of Abraham Lincoln and his world-famous Gettysburg Address. Visitors can tour the 6 galleries including two rooms that have been restored to their 1863 appearance. Today, the Wills House is managed by the Gettysburg Foundation. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. President Abraham Lincoln was a guest of David Wills in this house during November 18th and November 19th, 1863. Here he met Governor Curtain and others, greeted the public, and completed his Gettysburg Address. (Historical marker in front of the building). (signage on the side of the building) We toured the historic David Wills House a few months ago during a visit down to Gettysburg and really learned a lot. It's a great educational experience for the entire family.
