Wij wonen precies tussen twee schooltjes in. De ene is een basisschool, met kinderen vanaf een jaar of 6, de andere is een kleuterschool en buitenschoolse opvang. Ofwel: als ik thuiswerk word ik begeleid door vrolijk kinder gesnater. Daar heb ik best even aan moeten wennen, want ik woonde eerst in de binnenstad tussen het drukke verkeer en winkelend publiek. Maar inmiddels weet ik niet beter, vind ik het vrolijk en moet ik altijd vreselijk lachen als de ouders na 6 wekend vakantie duidelijk opgelucht hun koters weer naar school brengen. All in all, when I work from home I always work in a concert of kids voices. That took some getting used to as I always lived in the centre of town surrounded by streetnoise and traffic noise. En onlangs vertelde mijn schoonzus me dat de tasjes nog steeds worden gebruikt en er nog steeds goed uitzien. Ook het zoontje van een vriendin in Australië heeft jarenlang met één van deze rugzakjes van mijn hand gelopen. Als zijn spulletjes voor de kleuterklas konden er in mee.
