We can’t always take our students on field trips to the Spanish-speaking countries we teach them about. But a Google Earth (or Google Maps “Street View”) virtual experience can be a great way to give them a taste of what it’s like to explore a Spanish-speaking city. This activity works best with Chromebooks or laptops, but can be modified for other devices. This product includes a .pdf and an editable .pptx file with a check-list of places for your students to screenshot during a Google Maps Street View Scavenger Hunt. It opens the doors for discussion on many topics related to the Hispanic culture. I use this activity when I teach Around the City vocab and the concept of shopping at little specialty shops (frutería, lechería, zapatería, _____-ería) in Spanish-speaking countries. The product also includes printable conversation cards (Novice and Intermediate versions) to follow up after the activity. There are MANY can-do statements provided in the product to go with this activity. Please click on the green star by my name to follow me and get updates of new products.
