Potato Olympics – FREEBIE The Potato Olympics is a mathematical activity developed by the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute, focusing on enhancing students understanding and application of measurement. The Potato Olympics is an engaging and fun way for students to work both individually and in small groups exploring numeracy in Olympic events through their potato athlete. The Potato Olympics resource provides 5 event sheets that can be displayed at each Olympic station within the classroom as well as, a score sheet that is given to each team. Students can decorate their potato and come up with team names that is displayed on the board. Students are to record each team members results and implement addition strategies to find their team total for each Olympic event. Overall, this is an amusing, hands on and engaging way for students to implement and improve their mathematical knowledge and understanding.
