A rickety steel bridge crosses the exit gorge of the Victoria Falls between Zimbabwe and Zambia. The best way to experience it is to go to the Zimbabwe customs post just before sunset, join the cue with the locals and then walk with them along the railway track to the bridge. The Zambia border is on the other side, back far enough to enable a bustling trade of everyday goods across the bridge. No photograph does justice to the sensation of stopping at the centre of the bridge with the trade passing behind you and the massive volume of water forcing its way through the narrow gorge below against the roar of the Victoria Falls like a giant stage curtain in the back of the gorge as the sunset behind you paints everything in warm hues. This is my poor attempt at capturing the experience.
