Here is a tutorial on how to finish off a loomed bracelet nice and easy!! Holler if you have any questions!! First, after looming is complete, hide your weft threads...the ones you actually put through the beads with your needle...you will have one on both ends of the loom...where you started and where you finished. I simply pass the threads through the beads until the thread is completely buried. Then...you want to weave in your OUTSIDE warp threads on both ends of your loomed piece. Simply thread your needle with these ends and weave them in like you did the weft threads. This will secure the beads even more and will 'narrow' the warp threads that are left. See how the warp threads are now 'narrow' in the pic below?? Now...I use microspool ribbon or felt and quick bond fabric glue. Simply cut 4 pieces of ribbon or felt to the width of the remaining warp threads...your piece is still on the loom!! Take the glue and put on each piece and then 'sandwich' the warp threads between 2 pieces on each side. Squeeze together so the glue is holding the ribbon/felt and warp threads securely! After your ribbon/felt dries, cut your piece off of the loom close to the edge of the ribbon/felt and then use 2 ribbon clamps...one on each end! I always put my split ring and closure on the clamp before I put it on the bracelet...and I use long nose pliers to get it nice and tight. The microribbon is just the right size for the clamp...or cut your felt to the size of your clamp. This way, you are clamping the ribbon/felt and glued warp threads without clamping the beads and hurting them!! For extra security, you can put a little line of glue (I use clear crazy glue for this with a brush) on the OUTSIDE of the ribbon/felt before you clamp for a little extra hold! :) I love the ribbon clamps...you can get them at Joanns or Hobby Lobby...or I buy lots of them through amazon.com...they come in a variety of sizes...most of my pieces are 13-16 beads across so the 1" clamps work really well! I also like magnetic closures...they are easy to get on and off a wrist...you can also use toggle clasps or even a button and loop like I did below!! That's it...the easiest and most professional looking way I know to finish off a loomed piece!! :)
