Help your students learn the rules of exponent with the contents of this bundle. It includes GUIDED NOTES and THREE PRACTICE ACTIVITIES: Laws of Exponents Guided Notes Booklet PAPER & DIGITAL These guided notes help students explore the rules for exponents by writing out expressions in expanded form to make the connections to its simplified exponential form (for the Product, Power, Quotient, Power of a Product, Power of a Quotient, and Zero & Negative Exponent Rules). On each booklet page, after each new rule is established, there are several practice problems for each. The notes are assembled by copying the eight half pages front and back in the order they are provided, to create a a booklet, using two total sheets of paper for each. Once all rules are discovered, there are ten practice problems students can complete on the last page. A complete answer key is included. Additionally, these guided notes are also provided digitally on Google Slides. Laws of Exponents 3x3 Puzzle: Product, Power & Quotient Rules Help your students practice simplifying monomial expressions using the properties of exponent with this fun and engaging activity. Students simplify each expression using their knowledge of the exponent rules and match it with its corresponding answer on another card. When all matches are made it creates a 3x3 square. Students are asked to start the puzzle with one card in particular in the top left, so that all cards will fit the arrangement given in the included answer key. Each card had a graphic so this makes it super easy and quick to check students' answers. This is intended to be a great check for understanding once students have learned the product, quotient and power rules. Negative and zero rules are intentionally left off, so that they can practice these first few rules before moving on to the more complex negative exponent rule. Laws of Exponents Scavenger Hunt This activity is designed to help students practice all exponent properties (including the negative and zero rules). I design my Scavenger Hunts a bit differently than most. It gives students the flexibility to have the question in hand or take it back to a desk or table to solve. Provided in this product are 10 question cards, 10 answer cards (designed with large print, so that you can use these to attach to the outside of manila file folders, where students will find a copy of the question (along with multiple copies in case other groups need it too), and answer key. They will solve on their own notebook paper, look for an answer on one of the folders, and make their way through the entire loop of ten problems. Alternately, you can easily use the clear pages for task cards instead of a scavenger hunt. Laws of Exponents Card Match Up Activity Talk about easy to prep & easy to check! Great for small group instruction or centers. This activity is designed to help students simplify expressions using their exponent rules. There are ten question cards students are asked to complete. I use pairs for this activity (but anywhere from 1 to 3 would work fine). They find their answer on the answer board provided, flip the corresponding question card face down, to show its letter. This helps make the job of checking answers very easy and quick, as you only have to give it a glance that the letters are in the correct spot, and you are done! Included: directions, answer board, 10 question cards, 10 letter cards (to copy onto the back of the question cards), and an answer key.
