The brain is the main focus of psychology, and it is researched heavily! In chapter three, page 87, of the textbook the authors provide valuable information about the different components of the brain including the cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex is the “thin outer layer of the brain’s cerebrum that is responsible for movement, perception, thinking, and memory”. This portion of the brain clearly has a large task of managing a significant amount of cognitive function. The grey matter is so important that without it, there is no thought. The association cortex is the largest portion of the cerebral cortex and processes thoughts, interpreting, and remembering.
