Bronze, Late Hellenistic, ca. 2nd-1st century B.C.E. This fine head of a youth wearing a fillet in his hair has strongly idealized features resembling those of the other sculptures in the case. The artist cleverly lavished considerable detail in the making of the wax model for this bronze, to create a highly individualized work that was undoubtedly an expensive commission, perhaps a portrait of a victorious athlete.
