My first birth was a 27 hour labor. It was about halfway into my labor that it was identified that my baby was asynclitic (his head was slightly tilted to one side, and so it wasn't putting equal pressure on my cervix). It was definitely slowing down my labor. What I know now that I didn't know then, was that even though my doula and midwife were suggesting movements to encourage side to side opening of my pelvis and trying to give him space to shift his head, what was ✨ not happening ✨ was releasing the tension in my muscles (throughout pregnancy AND birth). During labor they had me doing LOTS of lunges. Great suggestion! But I was up and moving, moving, moving. And getting tired.
