The log that came with our reading program asked for so much information and calculating time and pages read that my students avoiding filling it out. The digital version that we were using required them to turn on a device while reading and it took away precious reading time. I wanted a goal setting space for students to be reminded of our teaching points for the week and set a goal for application or 'stop and jot' focus for the week.
