I really enjoyed reading The Secret Life of Bees. I loved the black madonna on the honey jar label. I wanted to paint my interpretation of her, so I did. I choose an Ethiopian madonna. Here she is, bringing us a jar of magical honey that possesses all the sweetness of life. In troubled times, as we are in presently, we need some sweetness.
