This Presidential Elections Color by Number and Text Marking activity is a winning combination of reading comprehension, reading passages, citing evidence, deductive reasoning, close reading skills and coloring. Everything a teacher dreams of wrapped up into one FUN and engaging non-fiction activity that reinforces ELA skills. Students read a non-fiction passage and search for answers while marking evidence from the text. Topics include: Presidential election process, primary elections, campaigns, Electoral College, road to White House, Election Day Students complete a “before reading” anticipation guide, read about Presidential Elections, answer questions, mark the text for evidence, color the picture according to their answer, and complete the “after reading” anticipation guide. This is a great cross curriculum activity that also practices Language Arts skills and citing evidence. You can use this activity to assess prior knowledge.
