Meet Fred Ingham. Born in 1830, he had been convicted and imprisoned 20 times when this image was taken in 1897. He was known to have operated under a wide range of aliases and across a large area of the country. Most of his offences were of theft but he was also convicted of robbery with violence. His sentences range from one month to two terms of ten years. In total he was sentenced to 28 years in prison over a 46 year span. His last recorded court appearance was in Salford on 12 April 1897.
