#Malta #Birgu #Hospitals #Military The hospital was built by the Royal Engineers. This ward opened on 28/08/1873. The hospital was built on the pavilion principle, with wards occupying two end-to-end pavilions with large verandas for ventilation, with an administration block in between. The kitchen and stores were housed in outbuildings so that there was nothing in the hospital proper except the sick and what was immediately needed for their treatment and nursing.
