Michael Macaulay, the head of evening auctions at Southeby’s, proposed to fashion brand La Ligne’s cofounder Valerie Boster on Valentine’s Day. “It was snowing heavily and right smack in the middle of Fashion Week,” remembers Valerie. “The idea of a romantic dinner sounded great, but I also kind of just wanted to curl up on a couch. Michael surprised me with a room at The Plaza hotel. He knew I was tired and thought maybe pajamas, wine, and room service was what I really needed. I was so touched and already crying before he got down on one knee.”
