Building reading fluency in the primary grades is so important because it connects word recognition and improved comprehension. Use these fluency passages in guided reading, whole group reading, centers and then send home for even more practice! These original fluency passages include bonus words to know (vocabulary), focus on a phonics skill (short and long vowel sounds), repeated readings, comprehension questions as well as interesting content. Many fluency passages include non-fiction content for greater interest. Differentiate with more challenging passages are marked with a star.
