Kids love learning all about the election process. Use these Election Day, mock election, and voting activity printables for first and second grades. The packet includes voting worksheets for class pet, mascot, and class president. Your students learn about Election Day and the U.S. presidential election and write to the prompt, “If I Ran for President.” The packet includes: Election Day – Information poster about Election Day {color and black and white versions}. Election Day KWL Chart - Write what they know, want to learn, and have learned as students learn about Election Day. Learning About Election Day - Write, illustrate, and share facts about Election Day. It is important to vote. - Draw and write about the importance of voting. Election Day Web - Complete a web graphic organizer with words and/or pictures that describe Election Day. Election Day Main Idea/Details Graphic Organizer – Write details for the main idea: “Americans vote for leaders of the country.” Write a List! – Draw pictures and write a list of Election Day writing ideas. How many words can you make from the letters in Election Day? – Cut the letters out and use them to make words from the letters in “Election Day.” Write the words in the space provided. You can also make a class list of all the different words the students make. If I Ran for President – Write about what you would do if you ran for president. Illustrate the writing.
