I have definitely been busy crocheting lately. My newest project is the Three-Round Lace Scarf that can be found in the book Crochet One-Skein Wonders. For this project, I used an 6.0mm 'J' crochet hook and Vanna's Choice Yarn in Linen. I have a rough start with this project. It starts with a double-chain crochet stitch. I have never done this stitch before, but the pattern gave text instructions for it. Well, I must have misunderstood the directions, because by the first row of shell stitches I had way too many shells and my scarf was realllly long. Oops. So I grudgingly frogged my work in progress. For my second attempt, I did a Google search for a double-chain crochet stitch. I discovered that I was definitely doing the stitch wrong, and learned the correct way. It is a nice starting stitch because (when done correctly) gives a stretchier starting chain. The scarf, after the initial frustration, was easy. Learning the shell pattern was simple, and the picot stitch on the last row is a pretty finishing touch. I adjusted my starting chain to 180 stitches and went up a hook size to make the finished size longer and wider, so my scarf is bigger than the original pattern. This also meant that it was no longer a one skein scarf, I used about a skein and a half. Before blocking, my scarf was 74" by 5". After blocking, the scarf was 80" x 6". I would definitely recommend this pattern. If you've never used a double-chain crochet before, I would recommend looking up directions first though. Look for more projects coming soon from Crochet One-Skein Wonders. It has a lot of great looking patterns in it that I want to try out. Let me know if you do this project too, I'd love to see your finished work! * This post contains Amazon Associate links. Please see my disclosure policy *
