One of my favorite places to be in the whole world. We enjoy backpacking in early September after the rush of people and we get the lake almost all to ourselves. The weather this time of year is never predictable and we have seen it all. We have gone from having 4" of fresh snowfall overnight, to 80 degrees and sunshine. We really couldn't care any less about what kind of weather we are going to have, what we care about is if the fish are biting. Toxaway is a relative easy, yet steady, 7 mile hike of constant elevation gain. Not a lot of big fish, but an abundance of little brook trout. Catch all you want, and for heaven's sake, please eat a couple and let the other fish get a little bigger.
