Tang Dynasty era Chinese bowl. Genuine 1000-1300 year old piece. The Tang dynasty was an imperial dynasty of China that ruled from 618 to 907. Generally regarded as a high point in Chinese civilization, and a golden age of culture. Tang territory rivaled that of the Han dynasty, and included North Vietnam, where this bowl was found. Beautiful deep apple green glaze. Stunning molded decoration of lotus leaves, a possible praying mantis. Extremely finely made. A highly collectable, very rare bowl. It obviously has repairs. The bowl has been put back together, found buried broken into several pieces. A missing piece has been remade. The cracks have been repaired and painted gold on the outer bowl, colour matched on the inner bowl. If not for the damage, a Tang dynasty bowl like this would be valued at several thousand dollars, five figures. More images available on request.
