This is an distinctive Pair of Mid-Century Sterling Silver Egg Cups with Gilt interiors. The egg cups have circular bases, beehive shaped pedestal stems and rolled top rims. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind. The egg cups were made in Birmingham by David Lawrence Silverware and date to 1965. David Lawrence registered his mark at the Birmingham assay office in 1963. Throughout the 1960s he produced a range of distinctively modern pieces for the home and the table whilst maintaining the heritage of high quality Birmingham craftsmanship. Condition is very good with just a shallow crease low down on the body of one cup. The gilding is in good condition. Please make sure to view all the photographs. Each egg cup is 5.4cm / 2.1ins high and 4.7cm / 1.8ins in diameter. The pair together weigh in at a very respectable 53.9g / 1.9oz of solid Sterling Silver. The hallmarks, just below the rims, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter Q for 1965 and the D L makers' mark for David Lawrence Silverware.
