Surely I'm not the only one.... Who else has had students come into speech (or the classroom) and make it VERY clear that they'd rather be anywhere else in the world!? Again, surely I'm not the only one! I've found that doing something interactive and fun (and 'easy' on the brain) first (E.g. watching a video) increases my students' attention and makes them MUCH more willing to do work afterwards. Videos, ESPECIALLY funny videos, can DRASTICALLY change my students' moods around! Whilst using youtube videos for therapy/class activities are certainly not new, I have found the available resources to be quite limited ( I have exhausted all available resources!). I have therefore put together a social language and language worksheet companion that I can use with 5x different (adorable and funny!) animated youtube videos. Regular education teachers, special education teachers, SLPs, or other support professionals could all benefit from using these worksheets with their students. Who can I use this with? The videos target a range of skills. The level of expectancy you put on your students can be altered depending on the class/student. I personally am going to use this with my students from grades 1 up to grade 12, but I will change my level of expectancy as to the quality of their answers! What is in this resource? This packet is made up of 66 pages. Inside, you will receive a link to each video as well as a short description and the video time length to help you with planning when you will use each video! For each video, there are approximately 8x worksheets that target the following social skills AND language skills: Theory of Mind Recalling Details Nonverbal Cues Interpreting Perspectives Story Retell Justifying Opinions There are also answer keys, specifically for Theory of Mind and Recalling Details and Interpreting Perspectives sheets. *These worksheets can be used for an individual, a small group or a class*! Individual ideas: - Use these worksheets as discussion points! This is how I'll be using them personally :) - Use these worksheets as writing tasks. Small group and/or classroom ideas - Project the video up onto the screen and provide worksheets for the class to fill in. - Use the worksheets as class discussion points. - Put the worksheets on the walls and get the students to walk around after watching the video and write their answers onto clip boards. - Have the students form into pairs and discuss their answers to the worksheets together. How to use: - Watch the video once without any work required, to let the students process and understand the video. Watch the video again and pause throughout using the theory of mind worksheet. - Ensure the nonverbal worksheet is readily available for the student to fill out throughout the video, too. - The rest of the worksheets can be done after viewing the clip. *Includes Black and White version! I've put no colour on the worksheets for ease of printing.
