My newest classroom decor in the modern decor line is Modern Pop of Color! I came up with the idea when I was wanting to create decor that would match my anchor chart and poster resources, as well as a set that would go with anything that you already had. That's the great thing about rainbow...you can incorporate just about any color. I was walking one day, trying to think of a good name for this set, and was listening to my favorite pop playlist. The idea of Modern Pop of Color came to me, so I knew I had to incorporate some of my favorite pop songs into the decor somehow. It's just a really fun set that I think you AND your students will love. I tried to keep it simple and modern, but also student friendly. I have lots of photos below just so you can get an idea of how to set it up in your own classroom, but feel free to put your own touch on it! Let's take a look! This post may contain affiliate links at no extra cost to you. Like I said earlier, you can make this set match just about anything you already have. Since there are a lot of colors, I would go simple on the backgrounds and borders. I like to be cohesive around the whole classroom. Only use one background on all of your bulletin boards if you want to do that. I think a solid black, white, or brown would look really great with this set. This painted dots background is also a fun option that goes really well. Again, be consistent and simple with your borders. What color are you really wanting to bring out? Maybe you want lots of pinks, so choose a plain pink border to use all around your room. To add more dimension, do an additional black or white boarder around the outside of your boards. The best part of the whole classroom decor set is these motivational posters! I tried to choose pop songs that everyone knows, especially lots of Harry Styles and Taylor Swift! Wouldn't it be fun to have these playing on the first day when your students come in?! Just make sure it's the clean version...lol. I know there are lots of Swifties around here, so if you are really wanting to bring her out in your decor, I would print these as posters. I give directions on how you can do that in the pack, or you can have them enlarged at an office store or on your school's poster maker if they have one. When you go to decorate your boards, I would use more of the pink and purple pennants and borders to tie it all in. The different color letters on these posters will also help tie in all of the rainbow colors from the rest of the set. I designed the posters so that you could create a gallery wall with them. Another option would be to print them as large posters and then use border around them to give them a framed look. This would be great for those large empty spaces on your classroom walls. I always begin my classroom decor sets with the alphabet first. I have always used this as the focal point of my classroom. I am in love with this set and the colors! I changed them about twenty times trying to get the most calming, modern rainbow combination. I have included different options, including a set with handwriting lines and a cursive set. There are also large letters in the pack that I plan to show more about on my Instagram showcasing a fun wall idea you could make in your classroom. Using pennants is one of my favorite, cheap hacks to decorate a classroom. They are always so fun and whimsical, and they can help tie everything in your classroom together. I put them in all kinds of places, from my easel to lining the bottom of shelves. Notice how the border above matches the bulletin board paper..keep it cohesive. You get editable versions of most of the components in the pack. I know we all organize these drawers differently, so you can either use mine or create your own. There are editable binder covers with each of the colors from the rainbow that you can design to fit your needs. Let's talk labels! I label EVERYTHING! This helps me and my students stay organized all throughout the year. Everything has a place. I always get my ribbon and twine at Hobby Lobby when it's half off. They have the best options and prices. I wouldn't choose more than two kinds. I also like to use really thick ribbon on the larger storage to make it pop. There are two different supply label options...round rainbow and square/rectangular white. The ones students will use all have clip art on them for the little ones. I did the white option in case it bothered you if the labels weren't in rainbow order. I know that I am crazy like that, so I figured there were more like me out there...lol. The white also helps break up all the color a little bit. There are editable versions included of all of the labels in the set. There are large round table signs, as well as rectangular ones for table caddies included. You could hang the round ones or attach them to large baskets on the tables. I like to put picture books inside at the beginning of the year for early finishers. I included a few of these letter sets to put around your room that say READ, MAGIC, LEARN, and BE KIND. The classroom library labels are all themed. There are also blank ones for those themes you might have that I didn't include. There are rainbow student numbers that you can attach to their book bins. The calendar and number of the day set includes everything you need for that part of your day. I have always used hand signals in my classroom, and it just helps so much. There is so much more in the classroom decor set that you don't see here, so please download the preview to see more on the TPT listing. If you decide to decorate your classroom with Modern Pop of Color, I would LOVE to see it! Just send me pics by DM or tag me on Instagram. Have so much fun decorating your classroom, and let me know if you have any questions!

I posted about these songs about a year ago on my Instagram feed and so many of you asked if I would be putting these in my TPT shop to sell. At the time, we had only written three, and I just didn't feel like that was enough to make a whole resource with. Since then, I have been working on writing new transition songs that are sung to some of our kids' favorite tunes! Singing CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT SONGS AND CHANTS during transitions makes moving from one thing or place to another almost seamless. Songs and chants keep students engaged, focused, and excited to learn, which in turn will save valuable instruction time. It also helps eliminate unwanted behaviors by giving your students the structure, consistency, and support they need. Most of the songs included are parodies of popular songs most kids will know. The words have been changed to help students transition in a positive manner. I printed the songs on cardstock and laminated them. I used a binder ring to attach the set together to hang on my board for easy access. There are also three different color options included. :) Let's go through a little breakdown of when and why we sing each of these songs: The Carpet: We sing this when it's time to transition to the carpet. I start they song, they join in. They have to be on the carpet in their assigned spots by the end of the song. Works like a charm every single time! I even added in some little hand motions that end the song with their hands in their laps. All I Do Is Freeze: We mostly use this when students are working in groups or with a partner. Sometimes, I need them to stop what they are doing, so that I can give them a direction or clear something up. It's a great way to get their attention! Clean Up Chant: This one is pretty self-explanatory. I do not instruct them when it's time to clean up; I just start the chant. You may want to add a timer to it afterwards if you need them cleaned up in a certain amount of time. Let's Line Up: Will kids ever get over Frozen? Probably not. If yours are still obsessed, too, they will love this line up chant. It gets them lined up quickly and without distractions, which saves so much time! Back to My Seat: We sing this when we transition from the carpet to their seats. We usually sing it a couple of times to give them plenty of time to make it to their seats. It's a really quick song! Partner Up: This song probably takes the most practice. Anytime you need students to get with their partner, you can sing this song. It also reminds them what to do when they are with their partner. Learning Math is Awesome: Sing this song to signal that it's time to begin math. I can guarantee it will get stuck in your head afterwards. Sorry. We Can't Stop Reading: This song can be used to kick off your reading block each day. It gets them excited about books and where those stories will take them! Quiet Time: I may or may not have sung this one the most. It works so well! I sing it in a calm, quiet voice, in which students will mirror. It immediately calms the room. Sing it a couple of times if needed! See!: I had to incorporate some Taylor Swift in these songs. We want students to be proud to share their thinking and comfortable talking with a partner. We also want their partners to be respectful and value what they are saying. This song is great to sing before students share with a partner or to close out a lesson by sharing what they learned or took away from the lesson. I just added some NEW songs!!! Like It Was: This is another clean up song. You could sing this one at the end of centers. It's really good about reminding students to put everything back in its place. Good For You: This is a song that you can sing as a class to celebrate someone! Maybe someone had a really great idea or accomplished something amazing, you can sing this to pump them up! We're Amazing: I am all about incorporating mindfulness into our day, so I knew I needed to create a song that encompassed that. This is another one that is going to take some practice to get down, but you can always display it as you sing. Some of the songs might take lots of practice to get down! But don't give up! After you sing it over and over, you will eventually get it. You will sing them to the tune of the chorus from the songs. I have added links to the actual songs in the PDFs. You just click the blue arrow at the bottom of the page. Always check these first NOT in the presence of students. I have gone through them to make sure they are safe, but you never know when things can change. A few of these parodies are straight from my students. I asked them what songs they wanted me to write transition songs for, and these are what we came up with. This group in particular had difficulty this year with transitions because they were all best of friends and LOVED to talk, which in turn got them distracted. I LOVED that about them, but we were losing valuable time trying to get refocused. Once I introduced a song or chant for them to do while transitioning, the difference was crazy! It keeps your learning environment positive, too, which is super important. You can check out the resource by clicking HERE or on any of the images in the post. Let me know how your students do with these songs or if you need another song added! I love your feedback! Happy transitioning!
