'James' is from my "Hair and Braid Painting" series from 2009. James: Etched is a solar plate etching on Rives BFK paper. Solar plate etching is a modern etching technique using ultraviolet light to etch an image onto a solar plate. I learned this etching technique from the former assistant to Dan Welden who is credited for pioneering this safer printmaking technique. The image dimension is 8" x 10" and the paper size is 11.25" x 15" I also used a soy based ink by Akua Printmaking. This artist proof was printed by myself at the Lower East Side Printshop during a Keyholder Residency that I had in 2011-12. James: Etched is a solar etched print signed and dated on front in an edition of 10.
