This beautiful print is entitled, "Praha Prayers", after the city in which this church is located: Praha, TX. The print was handmade by friend and Linocut artist, Peggy Woods. She provides more background information and inspiration for this piece in her description: "The Texas Hill Country and the Schulenburg area contain treasures known as the "painted churches". When the German and Czechoslovakian people settled in those locales, they did not have extra money to embellish their churches with expensive adornments such as marble or gold. They relied on the artistic talents of painters to create wondrous sights inside their gathering places of worship. Praha is one such church in the Schulenburg region well worth a visit." These prints are carved on linoleum at home, then printed on acid-free paper using a 100-year-old press at Houston's Museum of Printing History. Each print is an original, because each is hand-inked and hand-pressed. There are subtle variations from print to print. The total edition size of this print is 250. No additional prints will ever be produced. Documentation for this print is included in every shipment.
