Published by Grosset & Dunlap publishers in New York. The copyright is held by Small, Maynard & Company, in 1919. Believed to be a reprint of the first edition, making this a second edition. Hard cover with original hard to find dust jacket, only copy on the market in this edition to have one. Written by the American Science Fiction writer George Allan England, this novel follows a ship captain who is cursed by an "old Malay witch-woman" while sailing along the coast of Malaysia and Indonesia (referred to in the novel as Malay which is the peoples who inhabit these lands). This historical fictional novel follows his curse being passed down to his grandson, and only a good woman can break the curse. While I'm not sure what that means, you can find out! The binding is tight, the pages are clean but darkened with age. The original dust jacket is missing pieces of it, most notably on the spine where at the highest point of 2.25 inches a chunk of the paper is missing. The previous owner who wished to preserve the dust jacket has placed a clear plastic liner over the dust jacket with a white wax backing to protect the book and jacket. These are shown in the images. There does not appear to be any tears or stains inside the book in the pages. On the inside flap on the front and back of the book there is a darkening stain from the area the dust jacket does not reach from the book's storage, which is also shown. --------------------------------------------------- We use recycled packaging wherever possible.
