This is a small board with a singular flower design inlaid in blue resin. These boards are made with walnut and resin, most with natural shells and shark’s teeth from North Carolina beaches. They are sanded and polished, starting with 40 grit sandpaper and then in a step-wise fashion moving all the way to 3000 grit for polishing. They are then oiled. These are charcuterie boards, meant as serving boards for cheeses, fruit, crackers, deli meats, etc. They can be used as cutting boards but will show scratches with sharp knives. Do not put in the dish washer. Care for them with linseed oil or “butcher block” oil that can be purchased in any hardware store. When the wood looks a little dry or just for maintenance every few months is perfect. These boards remind us of wistful times walking on the beach, eating delicious appetizers with family and friends and the beauty of hand-crafted wood.
