1st and only edition of this 38 page book by woodcut master Antonio Frasconi (1919-2013). This edition features 11 woodcuts printed from the original woodblocks, 3 facsimile letters in Emerson’s own hands, and excerpts from his 1841 essay, On Friendship. Signed by the artist and marked #57/120. Printed in 1992 as a tribute to the printer Joseph Blumenthal of the Spiral Press, with similar format to the series of book collaborations between Frasconi and Spiral Press that began in 1958. Printed by the Kelly-Winterson Press on handmade Goyu paper from Japan. Hardcover, 7.5” x 5.5”. Perfect condition: new old-stock. Never owned by anyone but the artist and shipped from the artist’s studio.
