NEWS: the These Isles nomadic weaving workshop is rerooting and needs your help to make a proper home... please visit tinyurl.com/ycx3ywsp Your purchases also help enormously... Wintry Blues snug handwoven with the all-British wool of various sheep breeds, including Shetland, blended in Cornwall with a touch of alpaca by one of the UK’s most sustainable woollen mills. Gentle lavendar blues with mauve and khaki for earthen accents in subtle longitudinal and diagonal stripes: a pink dusk seascape of the softest sort. A diagonal twill weave, as per most of my snugs and cowls, means that it drapes well but is a more robust cloth than the same yarn woven in a plain weave (as per the scarves in the same colours). Securely and decoratively knotted, all three of these measure about 24” around and 13” deep with a close, generous but not tight fit on most people. In the pictures you see it modelled on a 5’8” UK women’s size 12 with a 12.5” neck. Softness rating 3/5 (where 5 is best – see above charts) Itch factor 2/5 (where 0 is best) Sustainability rating 4/5 (where 5 is best) Care: To avoid felting or shrinkage, I recommend handwashing only, in cool water, with minimal agitation. Ecoleaf or similar will give a clean, unperfumed, soapy smell that preserves the integrity of the wool. Please note, in case of allergy, that my items come from a home with a dog, but will smell fresh. Because I live in a van with my loom, touring the Celtic lands, bear with me if your parcel is posted from an outer isle, Brittany or Ireland and is at all slow to arrive – I'll let you know. (My blog, 'Tales from the road', at www.theseisles.co will give you an idea of where I am currently.) My loom and weaving process are illustrated in pictures here: www.theseisles.co/about-my-weaving Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for frequent addition of new designs. Eloïse These Isles
