Western Stoneware 2 Gallon Crock for Pickling and Fermenting Stunning 2 gallon stoneware crock with dark steel blue labels made by the Western Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois. This crock is in wonderful condition with vivid markings it will make a beautiful addition to your home. It has a unique band of a cinnamon tone of glaze right under the top edge. Unique crock! As a food preserver, I think a 2-gallon crock is the perfect size for pickling small batches. It's ready to use! History; The Monmouth Pottery Company of Monmouth, Illinois started in 1892 was in operation until 1905 when it was sold, it was soon to become one of the seven plants of the Western Stoneware Co. in 1906. The original maple leaf logo was used by Monmouth and continued with the Western name. Circa; 1930-40s Marked; Western Stoneware Co. 2 Measurements; 9.5” tall, 9.5” diameter at top rim Condition; Very good with no cracks. There is however, one small chip (fingernail size) on the bottom edge and a couple of manufacturing flaws.
