Here we have a very cool Erie #11 Skillet. This is one of the hardest sizes to find. Matthew Griswold and his cousins, the Selden Brothers began casting cast iron cookware in 1880 in Erie, Pennsylvania. The foundry was named after the city in which it resided and Erie Cookware was produced until 1907, when the Griswold name replaced it. Erie Cookware was the beginning of Griswold and ultimately the same company; This fact seems to confuse many collectors and enthusiasts, which has created the term “Pre-Griswold” when referring to Erie items. In 1884 Matthew Griswold bought the Selden shares of the company and after a fire in 1885, the foundry was rebuilt and named Griswold Manufacturing Company. Griswold produced brands: Selden & Griswold, Erie, Griswold’s Erie, Victor, Iron Mountain, Best Made, Good Health, Merit, and Puritan. Cleaned and Seasoned, ready to display, use, or gift! No cracks, rust, or repairs. This pan has light pitting throughout, but is still a usable cooking vessel. The pan does not sit flat, making it a great candidate for a Electric Coil Top Stove, Gas Stove, Grill Top Cooking, or Camping. Unlike today’s cookware, this piece will literally last a lifetime. Cast iron not only becomes non-stick with use; it will last a lifetime with proper care, adds iron to your diet, is chemical free, and is extremely versatile! (Camp fire, Oven, Stove Top, etc) Some Cast Iron Cookware can have discoloration and utensil Marks, this will even out and darken with use. See photos for best description.
