Basel's cathedral is one of the most famous medieval buildings in Switzerland, It was constructed between the 11th and 16th centuries combining Romanesque and Gothic styles, and is notable for its distinctive red sandstones. A peculiar fact when visiting is that no one is allowed to climb up the two towers if they are visiting alone: only visitors in groups of two or more are allowed up. I was told the reason behind it were the single people who committed suicide in the past by jumping off the towers, but I found the rule in place a bit illogical. Not every single visitor wants to kill himself, and people are in principle allowed up the towers to jump if they visit with someone. If someone has more information on this silly rule please feel free to reply in the comments.
