Author’s note : I am part of this generation marked, in its adolescence, by this legendary scene from the film “Planet of the Apes” (1964), when Charlton Heston discovers the outstretched arm of the Statue of Liberty emerging from a sandy beach. What will remain of us? Small or large traces? Huge monuments or simple shards of bottles? What stars will adorn the eyes of the archaeologist of the future when looking at a miraculously preserved metro ticket? I went in search of the aesthetics of our traces… ~~~~~~ Born in 1961, Laurence Garçon took her first documentary photographs in the United States between 1979 and 1980, after 10 years of classical music studies and a degree in marketing and advertising. Art director of a fashion magazine and then of communication agencies, creator and producer of adventure events in the world's most beautiful deserts for 12 years, then editor-in-chief of an online magazine (1998-2003), she turned to freelance photojournalism in 2004. A renowned documentary photographer, her collection of photographs illustrates more than 20 years of Parisian life with realism, strength and sensitivity. She is also the author of several books on the urban themes she has explored. Further information : Kodak Photography Prize 2001. Numerous awards between 1999 and 2001 for the magazine of which she is editor-in-chief. In 2007, several works selected by the BNF Richelieu to be included in the "Photographs and prints" national collections. Member of the jury of the Vincennes Images Festival in 2015.
