About The Artwork ‘Paper Trail’ is inspired by the environs and paper materials within the Stationery Factory, Dalton, MA. This installation is a site-specific, two-dimensional, abstract paper painting that resembles a continuous, longitudinal wave of measures through a trail of layered papers. The papers up-cycle a combination of solid colored 100% rag papers along with the colorfully patterned paper liners. Each piece of paper is hand torn and applied in various patterns to emulate a visual representation of sound and rhythmic frequencies through color. Each color and pattern has characteristics that may make you feel different emotions. The paper has a range of characteristics as it has aged over the years, ranging from soft to brittle, stable, fading and bleeding. Similar to the history of this factory, the paper has a living history. The paper has a memory.
