The Silhouette Studio Offset tool just got a major upgrade! No longer will an external offset on a design with sharp, pointed edges fall flat...literally. Instead points will remain points. You may remember this Silhouette software offset tool workaround I shared to avoid the dreaded flat "corner" offset. But with the release of Silhouette Studio V4.4.819, a new option has been added to the Offset panel which will allow you to gain more control of pointed external offsets. Here's how it works. Let's say you have a star design that you need to add an offset too. Previously this is what would result when an external offset was added for a squared (not rounded) corner. NOTE: This option is not available when rounded corners are selected. Now once you add the offset you'll get the same result - but you can correct it to get the pointed corners for the offset star by sliding the new Corner Limit bar. I changed the offset line here to blue so you could see how the final offset line is when the corner limit is increased. Note: This post may contain affiliate links.
