My grandparents lived on Burnside Island in Savannah, GA until recently. A thin causeway connected Burnside from the mainland. Some of my earliest memories include driving over the causeway around dusk after hours in the car, finally arriving at my grandparent's house. I would roll down my window and breathe in the salt and organic smell of the marsh before seeing it. Looking out over the marsh, seeing the dark waters and oaked islands in the distance, the intercoastal waterways always struck me as an untamed world full of exploration and adventure. This and the other marsh images are my attempts at capturing those moments, memories, and emotions when time seemed to stand still and the busyness of the world fell away. While I'm not a great artist, I've utilized midjourney and a myriad of prompts to craft these images until emotions hit me when viewed, sometimes taking 20 to 30 iterations.
