Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian Impressionist painter who lived in avant garde Paris at the beginning of the 20th century. He lived a lively, drunken, drug comatosed existence but produced some of the most vivid and exciting figurative images of the time. Ill health and addiction finally got the better of him and he died young aged only 35.
