He can’t read the letter but he can figure out some of what she is trying to communicate by looking at the photos and objects she sends him. He writes or draws pictures to tell her about him. The last letter from his grandmother has a little plane, so he knows that she is coming to visit. This is a great book to talk about communication differences and how we are able to communicate in a variety of ways.
