One man, Jose Salvador Alvarenga ended up getting washed out to sea in his tiny boat – becoming a real-life castaway! The 2000 adventure movie Castaway starred Tom Hanks and told the story of a man who was flying over the middle of the ocean when his plane came down, and he got washed onto a deserted island alone.
