In a true testament to the longevity of the Pennsy GG1, several remained in active service until the early 1980s. Some, including the prototype, #4800, "Old Rivets," were acquired by Conrail. Only 4800 was painted in the full blue scheme, and I couldn't resist building it. Today, #4800 sits outside at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, in a flat black color, desperately in need of restoration. I think the heretical Conrail Blue is the way to go. This locomotive is essentially identical to the Pennsy Tuscan one. It's actually the frame of my prototype black GG1 that I made two years ago, with blue paneling attached.
