Surrounded by 76 000 hectares of malaria-free African sand veld, the luxurious Madikwe River Lodge is on the Groot Marico River in the heart of game rich Madikwe National Park of South Africa's North West province. Accommodation The Lodge provides comfortable accommodation in secluded split-level thatched chalets set in the serene tranquillity of a riverine forest. Each cottage is individually decorated to create a rich African feel and offers an en-suite bathroom and shower with a full range of guest amenities, ceiling fans, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, and a private wooden viewing deck overlooking the river. Luxury Suite features include a separate lounge area and an outside shower. The Lodge is a child-friendly establishment and offers six family rooms, with twin beds and an additional sleeper couch, cots are available on request. Activities and Facilities Facilities and activities at the lodge include 24-hour security (an electric fence surrounds the lodge), a beautiful outdoor swimming pool with sun deck at the main lodge, a rock pool, and a conferencing area. The camp also offers a complimentary laundry service to its guests, as well as a babysitting service. Game viewing is the primary activity with the reserve being the fourth largest game reserve in South Africa boasting the second biggest elephant population. Game drives and walks are conducted daily by the Rangers, and specialised children's rides are available. Dining In the summer season, guests staying at the Lodge can relax and enjoy their dinner meals outside surrounded by the beautiful nature setting. Dinner is available in the Island Boma or the lodge dining room; lunch is served on the main lodge deck while breakfast is served in the dining room or outdoor deck. Also in the hotter months, guests can experience bush dinners upon request.
